| Notes : Massive US 6 sheet for Grace Kelly's last feature film before she retired from acting officially.
Childhood friends (Grace Kelly and Bing Crosby) got married and separated pretty soon. Both are from wealthy families. Now Grace is going to get married again to a shrewd businessman. Bing still loves her. Grace has a nosy litle sister who interferes and tries to correct Grace's life. Grace's father is a playboy. The 'Spy' magazine blackmail's Grace's family by threatening to reveal the father's exploits if not allowed to cover the wedding. The movie portrays the lifestyles of the rich with a good dose of humour and jazz (Louis Armstrong's band).
Grace Kelly, engaged to Prince Rainier of Monaco, wore her actual engagement ring for her character's engagement.

Nicholas Ray directs this hard-boiled film noir, which stars Humphrey Bogart as the bitter screenwriter Dixon Steele, who is abusive to all--friend and foe alike. No matter how he tries to change, his anger and suspicions get the better of him, which leads to the unraveling of his life when he is suspected of murder. Gloria Grahame is sublime as Steele's blonde neighbor, who tries to save him from himself. A surprising role for Bogart, it certainly ranks as one of his finest performances. |
