With this film, all the Bond tropes were firmly established, such as the outlandish and colorful gadgets, the larger-than-life supervillains, and the impressive cars (this one featured the legendary Aston-Martin), added to the already-present traditions, including the lush locales, the suave leading man, and, of course, the ineffably beautiful Bond girls. In many ways, this movie set the standard for all Bond films to follow, and many fans still consider this the very high point of the series. Offered here is a very rare country-of-origin British quad. |

Design by Robert Brownjohn. This more conservative design for the British Quad was designed to be used mainly in Ireland. The publicity department responsible for the campaign had noticed that exposed body parts tended to be painted over by sensitive individuals. | Notes : This was the first Bond film to be labelled abox-office blockbuster, and it received an unprecedented reception from audiences around the world. With guy Hamilton direting his first Bond film, Bond's character became more tongue-in-cheek, and was able to remain remarkably cool and collected in the toughest of situations.
Bond's task is to investigate Auric Goldfinger, who is suspected by the Bank of England of smuggling gold in and out of the country. He seduces Goldfinger's confederate Jill Masterson, who is then very willing to help him discover the truth behind Goldfinger's grand scheme. As a horrific warning to Bond, Jill is killed by Goldfinger who paints her from head to toe in gold paint. Bond then encounters Pussy Galore, who is equally enthusiastic about assisting the ever-charming detective.
Robert Brownjohn designed the British posters, and may of the elements were taken directly from the distinctive title sequence for which he was also responsible. NM Linen-backed. |
