When she arrives, she is confronted with a local drama: a youngman from the village, Lambert, whose sister took her own life, accuses the count of being responsible for his sister's death, for having sexually assaulted her. The two men have a duel of honour, in which Lambert is severely wounded, and the count's honour is saved. Ursula acts as a nurse to Lambert, and falls in love with him, only to find out that Lambert is secretly her aunt's lover. One night, the count too, finds out his wife's affair, and again the two men fight, this time Lambert kills the count. Ursula helps him to escape. Stunning and iconic images in a very large format dominates this poster with its’ rich red background. It is the story of a mod London photographer who believes he has photographed a murder. Forever controversial, and even hated, particularly when first released. Antonioni’s comment on society (particularly of the time), and human nature, is now considered a classic. The film was made by MGM in the UK under a newly created company called Premier Productions. Because this company had no agreement with the Production Code office (as MGM did), the frontal nudity and explicit scenes were allowed to remain in the film. Note that this poster from Italy got reissued in the early 70’s, but that reissue is undated, whereas this original Italian release poster has a correct 1967 date on it. This original is much harder to find and has become an iconic image. Also, original posters give the printer's name as ROTOLITO, while a few years later they changed the name to ROTOLITOGRAFICA.
