Posters of this dimension are extremely challenging to find for this title. Saul Bass's brilliant design set a new standard for movie posters during the 1950s. He was the first person to realize that the title sequences in films could be an art form unto themselves and could also contribute to the story. After designing the title sequences, his work was sometimes used to design the poster as well. In this case, Bass's design depicts the stylistic and broken arm of a heroin junkie. This was a taboo topic during the 1950s and caused quite a sensation when the film was released. A groundbreaking design in the world of posters and is highly prized by collectors. In incredible condition for a poster its size. When illegal card dealer and recovering heroin addict Frankie Machine (Frank Sinatra) gets out of prison, he decides to straighten up. Armed with nothing but an old drum set, Frankie tries to get honest work as a drummer. But when his former employer, small-time con man Schwiefka (Robert Strauss), and Frankie's old drug dealer, Louis (Darren McGavin), re-enter his life, Frankie finds it hard to stay clean and eventually finds himself succumbing to his old habits.
