Yellow Submarine (1968)

Colourful artwork by Heinz Edelmann on this rare & beautiful country-of-origin UK Quad issued by the studio when the film was released and meant for theatrical display. A colourful, meandering animated feature, Yellow Submarine includes music by the Beatles, psychedelic images, and a large dose of British humor. The Fab Four had a contract with United Artists for three feature films and they thought could use this animated film to fulfill part of that agreement without almost any participation by them.  The music-loving inhabitants of Pepperland are under siege by the Blue Meanies, a nasty group of music-hating creatures. The Lord Mayor of Pepperland (Dick Emery) dispatches sailor Old Fred (Lance Percival) to Liverpool, England, where he is to recruit the help of the Beatles (John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Ringo Starr). The sympathetic Beatles ride a yellow submarine to the occupied Pepperland, where the Blue Meanies have no chance against the Fab Four's groovy tunes.
