Description
A young ballerina is torn between her art and her romance with a young composer. British country of origin posters for this film are incredibly rare - only a handful have surfaced in the last 20 years and this advance quad is the rarest of the rare. Widely considered one of the best films of all time, Powell and Pressburger's multi-oscar winning adaptation of Hans Christian Anderson's 'The Red Shoes' is astonishing on many levels. The ballet is superb, featuring some of the best dancers of the time, the cinematography was by the legendary Jack Cardiff and the storyline was deceptively simple but multi-layered. Very little paper of any kind survives from the UK in the immediate post-war austerity years because rationing reduced print runs and the paper recycling pulped almost everything after it had been used.
